Bi-Weekly Notes (9/10) - 2025

Writer: Haripriya SridharanHaripriya Sridharan

I was feeling low at the start of Week 9, caught between all the political drama and some personal mishaps. But Week 10 felt better in comparison. The days were mostly a repetition of songs, work, and habits.

  • I rode my bike to the office almost every day after close to 4 months, and it was such a relief to finally get it fixed. Apparently, Apna Mechanic didn’t actually fix my puncture, but I managed to get it sorted myself.

  • Work was pretty decent. I collaborated a lot with my colleagues, and we went out for lunch quite often. I was also introduced to Swish, a cloud kitchen that offers a cheaper alternative to Swiggy and delivers food within 10 minutes if they service your area.

  • This week, I learned about Ggwave—a project for transmitting tiny bits of data over sound—and Gibberlink (GitHub: ggerganov/ggwave). Found something interesting to explore.

  • My friend Priya has been volunteering to teach English to a couple of school students in Chennai. She shared some of the notes from her students, and I couldn’t be more happier for her.

  • This week, we visited Neralu Farm with my cousins, along with Ramya & Rahul. Tars had his first swim in a natural pool. The dogs were just roaming around, almost indifferent to us, and we loved the time we spent there.

  • I’m unsure how I missed mentioning this earlier, but my cousins did an incredible job finding Poppy—a streetie who used to happily coexist with his friends near Harlur. He jumped off a six-foot-high roof and went missing for over 60 days. My cousins contacted so many people, put up posters, searched all over Bangalore, and, finally, through one of their connections, someone spotted Poppy and helped bring him back. He’s now back with his clan, as if nothing ever happened—As if he went out on an adventure of his own and got back home. I felt bad that I couldn’t help in any way, but I’m so glad they found him and he is back.

  • I completed my first month of piano lessons and moved on to Book 2. Now I know to read and play basic musical notes. On that note, I also rewatched Harmony—ARR’s series on Prime. It was incredibly soothing, and I connected with it even more now that my interest in music is growing. The series follows ARR as he brings musicians from five different regions to Chennai to play their instruments in harmony.

  • I started rereading 1984—a book in need of the times, or maybe the times need it more. Our worldview barely spans 70 years, yet history proves that what we see today isn’t how it’s always been. We study history to avoid past mistakes, not to reclaim illusions of loss. Justifications like security or historical claims often mask the reality. Ironically, we’re slipping back into monarchy, where power is concentrated in the hands of a few, and decisions are made with little regard for the people they affect.
